Salmonfest 2019 August 2nd-4th 2019

Salmonfest has become widely recognized both nationally and within the state as the most compelling and dynamic event in Alaska. Every year more than 8,000 people turn the Kenai Peninsula village of Ninilchik into a small city as families and friends fill the region with fish, love, and music. The three day weekend includes over 60 bands performing across four stages, Alaska’s top food, art and brews, as well as a science symposium, and daily children’s program.

Alaska Flower Girls Peony Farm

Fresh. Cold. Alaskan Peonies … Cool.
The Alaska Flower Girls peonies grow along the cold waters of the Cook Inlet near Mt Iliamna, an active volcano. The cool temperatures in our fields allow these peonies to be available from Mid-July through September. Long Alaskan summer days bring over 20 hours of sunlight resulting in large and brightly colored peonies. We have spent years perfecting our cold chain and harvesting procedures ensuring a long and beautiful vase life for our peonies.

Clam Digging Closed Again for 2019 on the Eastside for the 5th continuous year

In 2018, all Eastside Cook Inlet beaches will remain closed to recreational clamming due to the continued low abundance of mature sized razor clams. Any razor clam harvest in 2018 will likely delay recovery of east side Cook Inlet razor clam populations. The closure prohibits the taking of any clam species from Eastside Beaches and will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 and will be in effect for the remainder of the year. The affected area runs from the mouth of the Kenai River to the southernmost tip of the Homer Spit.
