Salmonfest captures the essence of why young Alaskans stay….. August 3rd-5th 2018
This weekend they’ll be rockin’ in Ninilchik as Salmonfest moves into its sixth year. A crowd of mostly 20- and 30-something millennials and Generation Xers will be putting on the uniform of youth at this time and this place — jeans, Xtratufs and a hoodie. If it rains, and it always rains, they’ll dig a rain jacket out of their backpack. Several thousand will be dancing in the puddles late into the night in homage to being young in the North and to one of the most important reasons to live here — wild salmon.
Save the Date June 16th 2018
The 4th annual Ninilchik Chamber of Commerce Clam Scramble will be June 16th 2018. We also have some new fun events going on in conjunction with the Race for the folks turning out to support you racers. Ninilchik Library will be hosting a “Story Track” so bring the kids to Ninilchik beach and watch the race while exploring a story. We are also rocking Ninilchik on race morning with a “Rock Art” competition; build a rock sculpture, paint a rock, create a Rock of Art. And don’t forget to buy your rubber ducks for the race to be held right after the Scramble.
Fresh. Cold. Alaskan Peonies … Cool.
The Alaska Flower Girls peonies grow along the cold waters of the Cook Inlet near Mt Iliamna, an active volcano. The cool temperatures in our fields allow these peonies to be available from Mid-July through September. Long Alaskan summer days bring over 20 hours of sunlight resulting in large and brightly colored peonies. We have spent years perfecting our cold chain and harvesting procedures ensuring a long and beautiful vase life for our peonies.
The Greenshore Cottage has a breathtaking view of Mt. Redoubt (a volcano) across Cook inlet. Cozy private two story cabin on the bluff above cook inlet. Property is 2 1/2 acres, half wooded. Located in Ninilchik, 30 minutes from Kenai and 45 minutes from Homer. Minutes away from several lakes and rivers.
