At sea-level, Ninilchik offers four distinct seasons. Average temperatures range from winter lows in the -10’s to summer highs in the high 70’s. Average Snowfall is approximately 75 inches a year, with most of the snowfall in December. Although the cold may seem cooler than the temperature, summer definitely makes up for it with the warm weather feeling all the warmer. Here, the sun shines more than 16 hours a day from April to August providing warm days to amble along the beaches, hike the numerous trails, gardening of just relaxing with your fishing pole along the river’s edge. The cool nights offer the perfect opportunity to watch a spectacular midnight sunset.
The heart of recreation
Ninilchik is centrally located on the Kenai Peninsula and has an abundance of recreational opportunities available to all. Ninilchik has some of the best halibut and salmon fishing in the world. The village has a population of about 800 year round residents with that number growing to 1500 plus in the summer months. Ninilchik is a great retirement community for people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle while escaping the heat. The close knit community is an ideal place to raise a family, brining truth to the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child.”
Ninilchik is the village to call home, Ninilchik lies 40 miles south of Soldotna and 40 miles North of Homer, Alaska making it an ideal location. The proximity to the larger towns allow the opportunity for shopping, dining, a weekend getaway as well as many extracurricular activities for the whole family.
