Ninilchik Boat Harbor

Many locals and tourists enjoy gathering at the Ninilchik Small Boat Harbor to watch the colorful commercial fleet come in at high tide and “off load” their catch. Though modest, the construction began in 1961 and has been a work in progress ever since as the space incurs massive tide changes, land slides, and floods.  But from the end of June thru the beginning of August, the small harbor acts as an important refuge for the many commercial boats (mostly Alaska-Russian family owned) fishing the waters of Cook Inlet for salmon.
