Volcanoes

As you gaze across the Cook Inlet you will see the stunning northern stretch of the Aleutian Mountain Range. On most days, you can view a distinctive set of volcanoes resting amongst the range. To the south sits Augustine, across from Ninilchik are Mt. Iliamna and Mt. Redoubt and to the far north is Mt. Spurr. A simple acronym helps to remember these peaks is their order, A.I.R.S as you view south to north. All have been  active recently, from small puffs of smoke which can be viewed  regularly, to earthshaking, ash-spraying and lava flowing eruptions. They are beautiful to behold.
